  MacOS X 10.3 LAN Connection Setup  @
 

  1. From the Apple menu, click System Preferences and open Network

  2. From the location menu, select New Location and enter the name of the new location (e.g. Wireless)


  3. From the Show menu, select Network Port Configurations


  4. Remove the tick from Internal Modem


  5. From the Show menu, select Built-in Ethernet


  6. Click TCP/IP and from the Configure IPv4 menu select Manually.

    Enter the following:

    IP address: the address you were assigned when you joined, which will be in the form of 10.0.X.X
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router: the Gateway address for your node, which will be in the form of 10.0.X.1
    DNS Servers: enter 10.0.1.2 on the first line and 10.0.1.3 on the second line
    Click Apply Now



  7. Click on the Ethernet tab.

    From the Configure menu, select Manually (Advanced)

    The Speed should be set to autoselect and the MTU to Standard (1500).


  8. All other settings can be left as the defaults.
