The WIA
is Australia's peak amateur radio body, representing the interests of amateurs
to government and industry. It is also responsible for
co-ordinating and marking amateur exams. WIA volunteers do much to increase and improve amateur radio activity by organising transmitting contests, running awards, promoting the hobby and producing weekly news bulletins. Individual amateurs are encouraged join the WIA to strengthen the amateur voice in the face of increasing pressure for radio frequencies and to receive member services such as Amateur Radio Magazine and use of the QSL bureau. For information about WIA activities visit the WIA website or grab a copy of Amateur Radio magazine (in most newsagents each month).
